Martins Beach

I can’t remember why I visited Martins Beach the first time, or how I even know of its existence, but the photo above was the first photo I ever took there. Martins Beach is a little crescent-moon shaped beach near Half Moon Bay with with a small sea stack in the middle.
When the tide is low, the kelp washes onto the beach and the air smells like fish and iron. If the tide is low-enough, you can even walk right up to the sea stack and get a look at the small tide pools. If you move to the other side of the sea stack you’ll see it’s actually an arch.

I visited the area several times throughout the years with the hopes of getting a starry night shot. Unfortunately, I have never been lucky enough to get low tide, a fog-free night, and a visible milky way at the same time on a weekend.
